Sophie Steel

Project Specialist, Soil

Sophie grew up in central Northern Territory inside Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park where her father was a Park Ranger for many years.

She has a strong passion for incorporating ecological principles into agricultural systems to improve both productivity and environmental outcomes. Since 2018, she has volunteered extensively with organisations such as the Australian Wildlife Conservancy, the Threatened Species Conservancy, Landcare, and various wildlife parks and zoos across Australia, as well as one in New Zealand.

Today, Sophie continues this work at Climate Friendly as a Soil Project Specialist, supporting farmers and landholders to integrate soil carbon solutions into their agricultural systems. Passionate about the connection between healthy soils, productive farms, and thriving ecosystems, she is committed to advancing sustainable land management across Australia.
